< Discussion with Germany on Cooperation Measures to Respond to the Fourth Industrial Revolution >
-Minister You Young Min has a meeting with President Kagermann of the German Academy of Science and Engineering and holds the Korea-German Joint Workshop on the Fourth Industrial Revolution-
□ Minister You Young Min of Science and ICT (Minister You Young Min, MSIT) had a meeting with President Henning Kagermann of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (Acatech) and the German delegation on Sep. 4 (Mon) in the morning at the Kensington Hotel Yoido and discussed Korea-Germany cooperation in response to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
□ Minister You and President Kagermann exchanged valuable opinions on how to respond to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. (President Kagermann is an advocate of the ‘Industrie 4.0,’ Germany’s innovation strategy on the German manufacturing industry).
ㅇ Minister You discussed responses to the Fourth Industrial Revolution in general, including what drove Germany to respond to the Fourth Industrial Revolution more promptly than other countries and the relationship between the government and the private sector.
ㅇ President Kagermann explained the background and strategy of Germany’s Industrie 4.0 and expressed his interest in Korea’s countermeasures including the soon-to-be launched ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution Committee.’
□ The two sides shared the understanding that cooperation can create synergies in effectively responding to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
ㅇ In addition, they shared each other’s know-how through information sharing and human resources exchange and discussed measures to jointly address relevant issues.
ㅇ They also agreed to explore ways to establish a channel for continued cooperation.
□ MSIT, together with the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany (BMWi), will hold the ‘Joint Workshop on the Fourth Industrial Revolution,’ on September 5 (Tue) in the afternoon at the SAP AppHaus in Pangyo.
ㅇ The event will give the two countries an opportunity to exchange polices in relation to the Fourth Industrial Revolution and explore future cooperation measures.
ㅇ In particular, Deputy Director General Markus Heß from the BMWi, responsible for Germany’s Industrie 4.0, will discuss Germany’s innovation strategies on the manufacturing industry and future tasks.
□ The Joint Workshop is expected to take the cooperation between the two countries to the next level, reflecting the big change of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
