Promising ICT SMEs of Korea to Showcase Cutting-edge Technologies at the ‘ITU Telecom World 2018’ Held in South Africa (September 14)
- Make inroads into the African market by participating in exhibitions in the Korean pavilion
□ The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) announced it showcased cutting-edge ICT technologies of Korea by establishing the Korean pavilion at the ‘ITU Telecom World 2018’ hosted in Durban, South Africa from September 10 to 13 for four days.
ㅇ The ‘ITU Telecom World 2018’ is the world’s largest exhibition and conference with the public and private partnership in the field of ICT hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (hereinafter ‘ITU’). The event was held in Busan last year and 294 companies from 32 countries participated in this year’s event hosted by South Africa.

□ MSIT selected themes that Africa has a lot of interest in such as smart city, VR/AR, medicine, agriculture, cloud computing and education by considering this event is taking place in South Africa and announced that it established the Korea pavilion as an open space exhibition showcasing cutting-edge technologies.
ㅇ Frontis Inc., a company for developing VR and AR contents signed partnerships with local companies of four countries such as South Africa, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Azerbaijan.
ㅇ Victony, an e-education startup forged partnership on contents localization with the Burundi business incubator and set the foundation for making inroads into the African continent.
ㅇ Also, iCOOP Inc. which showcased smart patient management and clinic solutions received the Recognition of Excellence Award in the ITU Awards ceremony held at the end of the event.
ㅇ Korean pavilion equipped with outstanding technologies of Korea attracted a lot of attention from attendees and dignitaries such as President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and ITU Secretary General Houlin Zhao.
