Reaching a Consensus on Writing Recommendation of OECD AIEG (November 19)
- Decided to include the general principle and the principle that supports policy decision
□ The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) announced that it reached an agreement in setting the direction of writing the recommendation of Artificial Intelligence Expert Group(AIEG)* at the 2nd meeting in Paris on November 12th.

ㅇ At the 2nd meeting, the following two principles are determined in preparation for the recommendation of AIEG : (1) general principle (2) principle that supports a policy decision.
ㅇ It is expected that the recommendation of OECD AIEG will be proposed in July 2019, if the detailed contents are prepared through the 3rd AIEG meeting in Boston, January 2019 and the 4th AIEG meeting in Dubai, February 2019.
□ In the 76th regular meeting of OECD Committee on Digital Economy Policy (CDEP) held from May 16th to 18th, there was a consensus that the recommendation with principles should be made at the OECD level so that artificial intelligence can contribute to the inclusive growth and well-being of mankind.
ㅇ The OECD AIEG launched the 1st meeting to pave the way for the recommendation in details from September 24th to 25th. The 2nd meeting was participated by representatives from 18 countries, and around 50 AI experts from academia, companies, and international organizations such as MIT, Harvard, Google, Microsoft, IBM, Facebook, and Unesco.
□ Vice Minister Min Won-Ki of MSIT, as a chair of OECD CDEP and AIGO, stated that “As artificial intelligence is currently the main topic of the international community, the creation of the recommendation of OECD AIGE will hold particular significance. In this regard, Korea will strive to play a crucial role in the process of writing the recommendation”.
